Clue No.1 is the extremely hot sun and heat in the desert,

Clue No.2 is the electric wiring in the glass enclosures,

Clue No.3 is the fine sand that spreads infections.

Firstly, the extremely hot sun and the heat in the desert. Temperature fluctuations of even a few degrees can be harmful to snakes since they are cold-blooded and depend on the sun to adjust their body temperature. However, the temperature there is too high that no snake will live in that. Secondly, there are electrical wiring near the top of the wall of the snakes' habitat, which is really dangerous for snakes.Thirdly, the sand is too fine which just like dust and infections just swell out of it.

The first one is the extemely hot sun and the heat in the desert, due to that snakes are very sensitive to the fluctuation of temperature. Secondly, there're electronic wirings near the top of the wall in the glass enclosures where the snakes lived. And the last reason is that the sand they use is too fine, which may cause infections and it's not good for snakes to survive.
