Hector killed Patroclus, Archilles cousin and precious friend, and many soldiers in the Troy war. Archilles chased Hector till to the enemy battlefield for the blood of the soldiers and revenge for hisfavorite friend. Facing this situation, Hector could have stay out for the fight and be a hero for his combat gains. But he came out from the gate bravely, accepting the fight by Archilles. On the other side, Archilles could have grieved for the death of his favorite friend and stay behind. However, he came out alone bravely and be a real soldier and aqualified friend of Patroclus. Both of them are qualified and brave enough for the honor on them. The true warriors are brave enough to face the challenges directly and the donate blood ebulliently!I really admire their attitudes towards the fight and their own life are honorable and cheering.
Achilles' choice was to sacrifice himself for the honor of being recorded in history.
Achilles was a man with a strong sense of pride and honor, which kind of characteristic is generally recognized as a shortcoming of him in the existing evaluation. In traditional Chinese culture, fame, wealth and honor are things outside the objective body, which is nothing compared with life. For example, GouJian, who is a famous war strategist, once endured three years of humiliation in the enemy's country for revenge concealing his real motive. In Chinese point of view, death should be exchanged for such things as blood ties and friendship, while Achilles exchanged his life for supreme honor, which in our view is not worth it. Existentialism advocates that as long as people don't make any changes and simply curl up to escape changes, they can live to their natural death peacefully. Achilles, on the other hand, confronted with the fate that defied him, chose to fight, of which is why he is called a hero by modern scholars. Although his death seems unworthy to us, for him, he finds the meaning of his existence at that time when he died.
Hector's choice was to preserve peace and his family at his own expense.
Although we praise what the hero did, in the battle between Achilles and Hector, I support Hector's actions even more. He was just an ordinary fighter who refused to surrender when the enemy was obviously too strong to fight with. In our history, there are also such people, such as the exiled poet QuYuan, not like the people of the court who were blindly agreeing with the ruler, he died for his people, just to live an incorruptible life. Of course, when evaluating the struggle between Achilles and Hector, we unconsciously elevate Hector and diminish Achilles, but there is no doubt that they are both heroes of their own destiny.
The elder son of king of Troy, who has killed Archilles’s friend. He could have rejected the challenge sent by Archilles, but he chose to stand out to protect his country, people and his glory. We have to admitted that there are some excellent quality in hector, such as responsibility, leadership, courage and dedication. The way he defended rival for his
Archilles
The strongest fighter in Greek army, who decided to take revenge for his friend Patroclus. He could have taken no care of it and stayed away from the war. However, he chose to make a challenge to hector steadily, in the purpose of defend his best friend’s dignity.
Undeniably, Archilles is a straightforward as well as sincere person who considerably values his friendship with Patroclus. In addition to it, he is also arrogant and aggressive, revealed in his rude behavior when he fought with Hector.
Archilles:He is a man with clear love and hate, brave and good at fighting. He only lives for his own glory, even to die. In the end, he finally gave up more important than his life of war, honor, only for his short love to continue to live. It is very rare. If love can change a person, then I appreciate the change. Although he kills Hector, the righteous prince of Troy, to avenge his cousin, he later acted as if he could leave the battlefield and return to a quiet life.
Hector: Hector is the only character I like in the play besides the main character.Because he to the country, to his father, to his wife, to his son, that piece of pure loyalty, that piece of love, let a person can not not be touched.Doomed to bear the guilt of his brother, tragedy, but it is unforgettable for him, although he is not as bad as aglius, that is because he is only a human, all his martial arts are from their own hard training.Perhaps aglus, if he had not been the son of the goddess, would not have won.I sympathize with his suffering, I think his idea is the most correct to defend the country, but others will not take it.
Achilles versus Hector is due to Patroclus, Achilles' best friend being killed by Hector. After burying his best friend, Patroclus, in grief at the loss of his friend, Achilles declared that he would fight Hector for life and death. Hector's wife had a dream that he'd been killed before the war, but he took up the fight anyway. After many rounds of fighting, Hector finally lost to Achilles and was killed by Achilles' short sword through his heart.
Achilles could have stayed out of war, but Patroclus' death inspired Achilles to fight. He fought with honor, and he fought valiantly. Hector was willing to give anything for his country, even though he knew that the result of the battle might be death, he bravely assumed the responsibility of defending his country and finally died with the sword of Achilles.
Hector was a Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War. Facing the challenge of Achilles, he chose to take his own responsibility rather than escape. He guards his country at all times, and he does to defend his country and his dignity. No wonder he was called 'the wall of Troy'.
But for Achilles, he faced both revenge for the death of his best friend and his own quest for glory and dignity. Even though he knew he was doomed to die in battle, he still did not want to lead a long and mediocre life, and hoped that history would remember his name.
Both of them chose duty and destiny, making a significant mark in Greek mythology.
Although no matter Hector, the royal prince, or Archilles, the son of a goddess, chose the road filled with hardships rather than choosing a more comfortable road, I appreciate Hector more.
Hector, as the prince of a kingdom, gave up living a comfortable life and chose to fight for his family, his nation and his people. He tried his best to protect people he valued although it seemed that it needed him to sacrifice his own life. Finally, he fought with Archilles representing his country and died. Whereas, Archilles chose to participate in the war for his own benefit. The willing to be famous and respected by others motivated him to give up his peaceful life.
Hector was a Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War while Achilles was a hero of the lliad. Both of them were brave and good at fighting.
Both of them could stick to what they stick to, Hector joined the war because he wanted to protect his people and his family. Even though Achilles’s mom predicted his dead, he still insisted to fight for justice, bearing unimaginable pain. They could choose to hide and escaped death, but they still fighted against enemies, fighted against fates.
After watching this clip, I think even though they were antagonistic in the war, they both had great courage and strength. I can feel their determination through their fight. They were the same kind of person, which were fearless when facing trials and tribulations.
I admire it very much. When I’m making choices, I will think of myself first. Butt they saw the whole world, the human being. And they bravely fighted for what they believed, trying to Struggle against fate. I think I should learn their spirit.
In the movie, Hector had two different choices, the first one is fighting for the country and honor, another one is rejected the challenge by Archilles . Refusing the war will allow him to achieve longer-term peace, then the path of life may be a lot easier.
Archilles‘s choice is whether to revenge his friends or whether to fight for glory. They all chose to fight.
I don't think which of the two is greater, because there is no doubt that they are well-deserved heroes in the context of their time. There is a proverb in China called "在其位,谋其职". As the prince of Troy, H represents the dignity of the country, which is the mission he has been born. Archilles is a person with rich and three-dimensional personality. In the face of friendship, he is very sympathetic ,but in the face of war, he is cruel to himself and to the enemy.
Achilles was considered the strongest soldier in the entire Greek army, some even say that he was the most powerful hero in all of Greek mythology. Achilles was obessed with the persuit of honor, however, it was also his weakness. He would sacrifice his life for the honor, he killed other people's husbands and sons, let his wife in the pain for the rest of her life. Therefore, Achilles was a really cruel person in this way.
For Hector, he was a peace-loving man, but had to took up shield and sword in response to the invasion. Although he already knew that the Greek army was strong that his country would eventually fall, he didn't surrender. He intrepidly fighted for freedom, dignity and the happinese of his people. Unfortunately, he was killed and insulted by Achilles, which was really tragic.
As far as I'm concerend, Achilles was the most powerful hero but Hector was the greatest hero in Trojan War.

Achilles, a born warrior, is known as the "undead warrior" in Greece. He has never fought a defeat, never surrendered to anyone, he fought only for his own heart and his own reputation. Honor, is the reason for the proud and arrogant Achilles to fight for.
But Hector is fighting for his country and his people. All his strength comes from his sense of responsibility and mission. He felt guilty for killing the fake Achilles, but he never bowed his head to the strong; he would rather die in the battlefield than to live a long life without panting. His image is strongly tragic.
Throughout the whole battle of Troy, no matter who wins in the end, I think this is destined to be a tragedy.
In a sense, war makes people smart and promotes human development. Throughout history, war has gone on over and over again. In the rolling smoke, human civilization has been created, destroyed, and then created again and again.
Hector faced the dilemma of death and safety of family when Archilles challeged him. In order to protect his family and people, Hector chose to take a risk to fight with Archilles. Even though he knew he would lose, he didn't back down and fought until his death. I think he is so brave and determined that he surpassed life and death. And he tried his best to take responsibility for his family and people. He deserves to be remembered in the mind.
Archilles faced two choices: to fight with Hector or to Keep his old life. Though keeping his life wil be relaxing, he did not choose it but choose to revenge for Patroclus and fight with Hector. He fought with Hector not only for revenging for his friend but also for proving his valiant fighting spirit. He also showed his power against his enemy.
Before the battle, Hector knew that Achilles was the most important person in the battle of Troy. Hector knew that he was not Achilles' opponent, but when Achilles was alone in the city, he did not choose to hide behind the city gate and let the people shoot with a hidden arrow. He was for personal honor and the shame of inadvertently killing Achilles' cousin. In fact, although Hector is fighting for personal honor, it is actually selfish in nature. If he really cares about his people and the country, he will do everything he can to kill this most powerful enemy to relieve the national crisis. But later I thought this wasn't quite right, because in the second duel, Hector had already done something that the warrior shouldn't do to save Pairs: intervene in the duel. So for Hector, family is more important than personal honor. So I think the original motivation of Hector's final battle is the national glory responsibility and the shame of killing Patroclus by mistake.
I admire Hector for his responsibility for Tory, his love to his brother and his loyalty to Andromache. He was told that he couldn’t win that war but he still chose to fight for Tory. And I think Chinese people maybe worship this kind of person a lot. The person who apparently knows he or she could not change the result of one big event, but still work hard for it once he or she recognizes it as a worthy affair. As to Achilles, he is absolutely a brave one, also a person with strong principles. He is the real pride of ancient Greek because of his contribution to the war and his insist of principle. From my perspective, compared with those cruel gods, both Hector and Achilles are the real heroes, because they know what they value and they will protect them until death.
Hector: he can choose to escape the war or face it head-on. In the end, he chose to face it head on. I think he is a brave, passionate, responsible and intelligent hero. He knows that he should set an example for the country and the people. Even though his wife begged him not to go to war, he still resolutely responded to the war. His great deeds will be praised by many people.
Achilles: he also has two options: to escape the battlefield in anonymity or to fight head-on. Obviously, he also chose to fight. I think he is a good hearted, valued friendship and brave hero. He is kind, but he knows his position, so he is cruel to the enemy. He has many characters. But it is precisely this true to life character that makes his character very stereoscopic. His choice and spirit are worth learning.
Summary: They have also faced different choices in their life paths. In the process of avoiding retreat and advancing bravely, they all chose the latter. Although the reasons are different, the spirit of struggle contained in them gives us deep inspiration.Hector could have chosen to stay with his wife and children. At last, he resolutely chose to fight for his country and people. Achilles chose to fight for his friend's death. In my opinion, Hector is loyal, loves the people and attaches great importance to family. Achilles is brave and good at fighting, and attaches great importance to friendship. The spirit they showed in the struggle is higher than just enjoying life happily.
He faced two choices: one is to live a peaceful life with his beautiful wife and his children. The other is to fight and die for his country. And he chose the latter one without hesitation.
When his wife begged him not to go, he told her that if he ran away, he would be so ashamed of himself that he could not face Trojan people. His heart won’t let him do this. He knew that war was doom to lose. But he still accepted the battle with Achilles.
I think Hector is a true hero. He not only respected his father, took good care of his brother, but also was fearless to the war and willing to die for his country and people.
Achilles
Achilles could just stay away from war, but he chose to revenge for his friend Patroclus.
I think he is also a hero. He helped Greece win several important battles. But I don’t think he is the same kind of hero as Hector. Hector said if he won, he would only take off his armor and returned his body to Greece. And he hoped Achilles can do the same for him. But Achilles refused his request, Achilles dragged his body by his chariot to insult him. This kind of cruel thing isn’t a true hero should do. What’s more, unlike Hector, Achilles fought not for his country, but for his own glory.
In the Trojan war of Homer, Achilles' friend Patroclus fought in the name of Achilles and was killed by Hector. The choice faced by Achilles at this time is:1) revenge, kill Hector, but then, according to the oracle, he will surely die.2) leave Hector alone, Achilles can have the hope of survival.
It is a rational choice, one that is very easy to make if there is no morality: survive! Why would you want to kill Hector and get yourself involved? But Achilles could not morally let the enemy who killed his friend go unpunished. It is morality that makes this rational choice a dilemma. Achilles chose revenge.
Achilles inevitably dies of his own after killing Hector. But it was fate's irresistible force that showed the greatness of Achilles' choice. He was not without options, but he chose revenge and death over escape and survival: he would avenge his friend's death at the cost of his own.
Both Hector and Achilles faced the dilemma of fighting and escaping in the Trojan War. The latter declared war on the former for the sake of the slain friend, the latter was to fight for responsibility and national mission. Both of them should be hobored as hero.
Hector knew that he was going to die for the fight, but he still chose to fight for his country, from which we can realize how brave he is.
Achilles avenged his dead friend, from which we can see that he was very righteous.
Hector: He is the real hero.He fought for his country, his compatriot and his glory.Although he knew he was not the component to Achilles,he still went out of the gate and fought to Achilles.in the movie,he got two chances that can kill Achilles, but because of the aid of the god,he failed.he was a real hero who never gave up and stroke for the impossible.
Achilles:although he won the fighting,i think he was the loser.for the beginning ,he refused to go to the battleground for some personal purpose but ignored the interest if the country.Beside, what made him determined to fight with Hector is the death of his friend. What is more,a real hero who looking for challenge should not be in the help of other people, he should get off the armor.
The two characters ’story was an complete tragedy.A tragedy based on the war and the gods.
In the movie Troy, both Achilles and Hector are faced with two ways that will change their lives. If Achilles participated in the war, he was doomed to die. If he gave up the war, he would be stable. If Hector chose to stay in the castle, maybe he would keep it. He could also escape with his wife, just like the little prince Paris, but he chose to fight against Achilles and choose the honor of the country. In addition, I think Paris, the little prince, also chose a more tortuous road. If he did not take Helen away, then there was no reason for the enemy to start a war. But the two heroes in the film are doomed not to be nobodys. Knowing the ending of death, they choose a more dangerous way, that is why they are heroes.
Hector, who died at the hands of Achilles, is an almost perfect hero. His life was simply a desire to fear the gods, to protect his wife and home. He is a good son, a good brother, a good husband, a good father, and an opponent worthy of respect from anyone.
Achilles was destined to be a warrior whose sole purpose was to live for the glory of war. He seems more brutal and selfish. His mother confirmed his destiny to live and die for war. He finally falls down to save a woman. His sole purpose in getting into the horse was to find and protect the woman. At this time I feel the return of a god's humanity.
Both characters have a tragic tinge to them, and I can't say for sure which is good or which is bad. They may have the life they want, but they are forced to fight on the battlefield.
It is normal for us to see such kind of plot like two characters have to fight for their benefits. Sometimes they may even have to risk their life, and neither of them is wrong.
We would feel sorry for Hector and Archilles because theduel between them is fated. They can't escape from their own fate. However, I think they are both respectful, for they faced the truth eventually. Those who choose to fight with the fate is immortal.
For Hector, he chose to fight for his country and people even though the end of his destiny is obvious. He could have chosen a comfortable life but he chose a much more harder way. Knowing that he definitely would loss the battle, he didn’t flinch, but fought bravely. He defended his dignity and honor by actions. For Achilles, he launched the challenge for his friend who killed by Hector. He is a man of love and righteousness.
We can know that Achilles was deny to join the war at first through the story. But finally when he got a chance to stay away from the war, he chose to fight for his friend. In his values, he is attaches great importance to the honor and friendship. Actually, he made Hector pay disastrously for his behaviour, and in the movies, Achilles killed Hector to revenge for his friend. I think he is a representative of hero, who owns a valuable quality about chivalrous spirit.
As to Hector, it is no doubt that he is brave and has a strong will of protect his homeland. Actually, when he decided to accept Achilles’ challenge , he had a premonition of his ending, but he still chose to fight for his motherland. In the war, he won many merits and protect his country till the end of his life. In a manner of speaking, he lives for his country, his honor is bound up with his country. He is responsible and heroic.
Hector was a hero of Troy, he chose this type of difficult and challenging lifestyle, which means that he need to protect his country, his family, and fight with Archilles even if he had the help of godness. Hector beat Patroklos who have Archilles' tough barde rely on his courage and wisdom. the way Hector live is what I appreciate, that his sacrifice for the country make his life meaningful, In the Hector times, especially when the city culture in ancient Europe are the mainstream, his power and belongingness was the kind of bond that help the city to flourish.
As for Archilles, the gifted one, I think he just did what he should do, the power of spirit of Archilles was not as strong as Hector. one is the godness's son, one born in a ordinary people's house, they can combat in a same stage, which actually emphasize the greatness of Hector, but undeniablely Archilles has courage and power that was not just provided by the godness, he was the meritorious man of Greek army.
Hector chose to face the challenge and fight with Archilles in order to protect his country instead of peaceful life.
Hector: Hector is a brave, kind and intelligent person. He is an elder brother, a husband, a son and a fighter of his country. Unlike Archilles, a demigod, Hector is an ordinary person with fresh and blood and have rich emotions and even weakness. However, as the elder prince, he had to take great responsibility for his country without complaint. He went through fire and water and made much more efforts than others not for the name of the greatest warrior of Troy, but for his country. He just want to grow more powerful to protect his country and people from suffering the war. He could not have take part in the fight, but he knew that he never just live for himself, but for the honor of his country.
Archilles: Archilles has complex characters. Archilles, a strong warrior, went to many wars and help the army to turn the tables for several time. On the one hand, he is a faithful friend because he killed Hoktor to avenge for Patrick. On the other hand, it is cruel of him to put Hector’s body on a chariot after killing him.
Hector faced two choices: join the Troy or not. Finally, he decided to attend the war. Comments: He is a brave hero. Even if he knows the war is deem to be failed, he is determined to devoted himself to the country for his people and tribe. He is a affectionate man. His wife is the most important thing for him. If she unfortunately becomes a slave of an enemy country, it will make him sad and unbearable. In order to protect his wife from humiliation, he would rather devote all of his for brutal battle, and even use his life to bear the consequences of defeat.
Achilles faced two choices: join the Troy or not. In the end, he decided to join the battle. Comments: He cherishes friendship with his friend Patroclus. After his best friend, Patroclus, was killed by the Trojan Prince Hector, he was tragic and angry, and desperate. His mother warned him that revenge for his friends would cause him to die on the battlefield. Achilles said angrily: “If the goddess of destiny would not let me protect my slain friend, I would rather die!”
Hector’s choice is to live a good life with his wife and child and away from the war, or he fights for the country and the people until he gives his life.
Hector is a very distinctive hero. His responsibility to the country and the people made him not shrink back even if he faced an unavoidable death. He respects his father and loves his younger brother. When the mistakes of his younger brother and father brought war, he did not leave them because of these mistakes. Instead, he put on a battle shirt to fight for the country to protect the country and the people. He is brave and warlike and he is an excellent strategist and politician, but in fact, he loves peace and opposes war.n the Trojan War, Hector died in battle but was a hero worth remembering. He fulfilled his responsibility as a son, brother, and commander. He has almost no flaws in perfection, he just owes his wife and children, there is no way to live with them.
Achilles is faced with staying away from war or fighting for the death of a friend.
His friend was killed by Hector in Achilles’ s armor, so Achilles was very sad and wanted to avenge his friend. He is a person who values friendship. He was also an outstanding warrior, and his reputation even frightened the Trojan warriors to tremble. But he also had a cruel side. He rejected Hector’s request, and after Hector died, he was dragged behind the carriage and made him die without dignity. But when he got his mother to ask for Hector ’s body, he returned it to her.So, Achilles is a very complicated character.
Hector is prince of Troy and the best warrior in his country. As a prince, he has a great sense of responsibility and love for both his country and family. When Archilles asked for a duel because of Hector’s killing Patroclus unknowingly, Hector could have ignored him and escaped. But he decided to duel with Archilles and finally was killed by him.
As for Archilles, the hero of ancient Greek, is another main character in war of Troy. He is best warrior of Greek and that why Agamemnon asked for his help when he decided to defeat troy. Even if Archilles’ mother has told him that if he accepted the invitation, he won’t come back. Archilles still decided to fight for glory instead of having a happy life but being forgotten centuries later.
From my point of view, I will appreciate Hector more. It can’t be denied that Achilles is a hero, who help Greek to defeat troy and is remember by people since then. However, all he did was to accomplish his own goal. He wasn’t fight for his country, nor for his family, he only fight for himself and his glory. But Hector is totally different, he’s almost a perfect hero. When his country was in trouble, he made great efforts to protect and fight back even if he was eager for peace. When his brother Paris was nearly being killed by Agamemnon, he disobeyed the conventions even to protect him. What Hector has done was mostly for his country, family and responsibility, which means that he always put these on the first place.
