Civilization is the opposite of barbarism. I think the characteristic of a savage is that he only follows the instincts of animals to survive, and knows no decency or shame. On the contrary, civilized people should be able to restrain his animal nature to a certain extent, and act correctly under the norms of social morality.

In addition, a civilized society should be inclusive, free, and fair. Everyone in a civilized society should be equal. I don’t agree the society that values strength while despising weakness because civilized people should have goodwill towards their fellow man. Powerful people are only a few, and most of us are ordinary people. If the powerful are allowed to oppress those who are weaker than them, then the order of society will be disrupted. So how are we different from the beasts? After all, only a wild beast would devour weaker animals without care.

I think civilization is abstract, a reflection of the spiritual aspects of various social phenomena.
In my opinion, a truly civilized society should have order, rules, and human touch. In a civilized society, people respect each other and value life. The world harmony society in the Book of Rites is my ideal civilized society.
No, I don't approve. A truly civilized society should not value the strong and despise the weak. In my opinion, the degree of civilization of a society should be measured by its respect for life and assistance to the vulnerable. Everyone's life is equal.

I don't agree with it.If the weakest in a society can live with dignity and happiness, then we can say that this is a highly civilized society. So on the contrary, the powerful people should protect the weak people, so as to make the society better and more civilized.

Civilization is the development of human material and spiritual civilization to a certain level, which promotes the intensification of social division of labor and produces mandatory public power. It seems to me that the characteristic of a truly civilized society is that people are able to choose what they want to do within reasonable and legal circumstances, and that they have the external and internal conditions to do it. For example, if a person wants to engage in literature, in a real civilized society, he can pursue his dream regardless of his appearance, regardless of his wealth, regardless of his status.

No. Social Darwinism is regarded as a purely rational doctrine, but I believe that in civilized human society, it is irrational to judge the survival of the strong and the death of the weak by the rules of animal life. Racism was based on the rationality of social Darwinism, which later became one of the Nazis' most powerful pillars of persistent irrationality.

The strong may not always be the strong, the weak also have the opportunity to become the strong. The change often exists between the strong who are arrogant and the weak who are calm.

In my opinion, the members of a civilized society should be rational and compassionate, and they will not only have the idea of abandoning and bullying the weak, but even if they are the stronger side, they can still understand and sympathize with the weak and will not blindly pursue interests. At the same time, a civilized society should have rules that not only guarantee rights, but also regulate obligations and produce unique social functions.

As for the real civilized society, I described that for the peace of world and everyone should be full of love. Nobody can be killed because of weakness and the stronger can't bully the weaker.

No, I don't agree with this idea. I think in a real civilized society, the stronger should help the weaker, rather than despising them.

After reading the article, I just feel a sense of fear. Because every life should be respected and valued, but the gereral is so cruel that he just enjoys the sense of hunting.

    1. I would define civilization as human society with its well developed social organizations.

    2. I think a truly civilized society should have a central authority that acts as a government and makes laws, a safe place to live, and provides all citizens with a chance to pursue an equal education.

    3. I don't agree with the idea. A society that values strength while despising weakness can lead to a number of potential issues. It may create an environment where individuals feel pressure to always appear strong, which can lead to a lack of empathy and understanding for those who are struggling or vulnerable. This can also perpetuate harmful stereotypes and stigmas around mental health, disabilities, and other forms of perceived weakness. Ultimately, a balanced society should strive to value a wide range of qualities and attributes in its members, recognizing that diversity and inclusivity contribute to a richer and more compassionate community.

Civilization is the sum total of human spirit, invention and creation accumulated in human history, which is conducive to understanding and adapting to the objective world, in line with human spiritual pursuit, and can be recognized and accepted by the vast majority of people. In my opinion, the characteristics of a civilized society are, first of all, low levels of violence, and then social justice, where everyone is equal and everyone has the right to choose freely. At the same time, I also do not agree with a society that values strength and ignores weakness. The law of the jungle is an extremely selfish and narrow point of view. Secondly, I do not agree that civilized society should focus only on strength and despise weakness; civilization also needs hardness and softness, and too much development on either side will make civilization lose its value.

A civilized society is stable and harmonious where everyone follows the rule of law, and the law protects the freedom of all people. People in civilized society have a universal sense of empathy. If the weakest existence in a society can live with dignity and happiness, then it is a highly civilized society.

Of course a society needs to value strength, for it is competition that  promotes the development of society,so do humans. Accordingly, only when all the people strive to profoundly explore their potential and  become a better self can we embrace a enriched and  satisfying life.

Nevertheless, despising weakness  is not conducive to the stability and harmonies of society. In such a competitive  society,we should prioritize how to truly respect, understand  and care for each other rather than discriminate and disdain the vulnerable groups. As what I have said above, the society is highly civilized when even the weakest groups can live happily and contentedly.
