When I first entered college, I was excited at first, looking forward to college life, and then a little overwhelmed because I didn't know what campus life was like. I remember the first thing I did when I came to school was to familiarize myself with the terrain and walk around the school. I don't have any position, so I don't have any tasks except homework, so I have a lot of time to participate in campus activities and gradually get familiar with campus life. One of the important things I did in the second semester was to change my major, which made me very satisfied. There was also a night market next to the school, which made me gain weight and my wallet shrink.

In the past one year of college life,I deeply realized that college was very different from I imagined and what my parents portrayed.Parents always say:when you get to college, you'll be left alone to do whatever you want. And you are free to do what you want to do.Until I went to college, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, freedom of access is restricted.Like a high school routine, there are morning reading and evening self-study.Before I went to college,I was excited and happy. But in this age of rate race, the pressure to study has not reduced.I need to study my professional knowledge to improve myself ,take part in exams and competitions.

Before I went to college, I thought I would participate in many activities and make many friends, but after coming to the campus, I found that I prefer to be alone rather than with a lot of people. However, my first year of college life was also very fulfilling and happy, I completed the major change, completed the examination of CET-4 and CET-6, got along with my roommates very well, and enjoyed delicious food every day.

Myth:College students have a lot of free time to do something what I like. And they can go out at any time without taking extra courses into consideration.

Fact: I am supposed to run between school buildings in 5 or 10 minutes. Moreover, campus activities and voluntary work are of vital importance as well. We are asked to achieve a level before graduating. Sometimes I feel tired.

The followings are some of my experiences.

Myth 1 :  College student would be more free and happy when entering universities, for they have the opportunity to manage their own time and do nearly everything she/he want .

Fact 1 :  Looking back to my first year in my college, I certainly possessed more free time to do some my favorite things. Nevertheless, gradually I began to enter a sort of circle where I just satisfied my pleasure and lived without any goals and even though I knew what I do now was actually wrong, I still could not cheer myself up and  found out the real self. As a matter of fact, I come to realize that as a college stduent, only when we start to govern our conduct and demonstrate self-regulation could we be aware of our surroundings, thus seeking out our directions of lives and enrich our soul. In addition, having the ability to manage time does not lie in enjoying those pocket of time, but learn how to fully leverage our precious time and balance the reelationship between study and entertainment.

Myth 2:  College student  could be engaged in all sorts of activities and competitions and make friends with individuals from other areas.

Fact  2:  I must to say I have imagined many times over varieties of school activities or outside it, for it is known that college lives are colourful and exciting. However, I find I nearly have not find any meaning and interesting activities in our school and the only aim to take part in certain events is merely to get scores, which is aso utilitarian . Since I have no choice of being involved in  activities , I cannot meet more people and learn more about some strategies about relationship-handling.

However, when i truly experienced college life,i realized that the pressure of college was no less than high school. I had to prepare for various group assignments, participate in various activities, and obtain various certificates.

I used to think that college life is carefree, there is no competition and pressure, students should be comfortable, relaxed and lazy, but in fact, everyone in college is very hard, are very motivated, and are working hard to get better results, and even go to the library day by day to finish homework and improve their skills.

Myths:Many people may think that English majors must have a good command of English.

Fact:But it didn't feel that way until I went to college. With the development of the Internet, learning resources are more and more abundant, English learning is no longer a high threshold.Self-disciplined people can also achieve a high level of English through self-study.On the contrary, if English majors do not work hard , then their level will not be very high.In addition, a large proportion of foreign students' English level is higher than that of English majors, at least in spoken English.

There is still some difference between the university I imagined and the one I am currently attending. But it's also possible that I didn't get into a public university. Myths: 1、The campus of a university is very large.2、On the weekend, you can have a free and easy trip. 3、There's no need to compare grades, 60 points long live. However, the facts: 1、Our college is not big. 2、Tuition fees are expensive. Besides, after deducting the monthly living expenses, including various miscellaneous expenses, there is no money to travel at all. 3、Although passing the exam is good, no one tells you that the scholarship in college, joining the Communist Party, and various factors that are conducive to finding a good job all depend on your grades

In high school, I was full of longing for college.I think everything in college is free, wonderful and comfortable. In my imagination, we can learn deeper knowledge in class and give play to our expertise. In our spare time, we can allocate our own time, eat the food we like in the canteen, play computer and mobile phones freely, and have no deep study pressure.
However, after I entered the university, I found that the study pressure in the university is equally heavy, there is no teacher's constraint, the school's plan, we rely on our own self-discipline to complete the homework and exams. And in our spare time, we should enrich ourselves and learn content. But college is also as free as imagined, but we need to learn more deeply and learn knowledge.

When i was in the high school, most people told me that college life was easy, and you didn't have to work really hard as before, and you can do almost whatever you like, such as developing your hobby, travelling, falling in love with someone and so on. However, through the past one year, i find the above views to be both right and wrong. College life is not all play, not all study, but a combination of work and rest. College's target is to make you to be a versatile talent and make you to better adapt to society. After all, college is a "small society". It is not society in the true sence, but it is a transitional stage that make us better adapted to the future society. So don't forget to study in your spare time. Likewise, don't only study. Both of them are important.

Before I entered college, adults always told me: college is how easy and happy. This makes me yearn for college life all the time. However, when I actually entered the university, the epidemic overwhelmed me, and my long-awaited freshman life was almost spent under the shadow of the epidemic. Similarly, college is not just about having fun. Study takes up most of the time. College requires a lot more focus and self-control than high school did. It's a challenge for me. However, such a colorful college life, full of freedom and joy that is different from the past, fascinates me.

Before going to college, I think college life is full of freedom and joy, we can get rid of the depressed life in high school, have our own independent space, can do what we want to do, and get rid of the pressure of parents and teachers

After entering the university, I found that it is necessary to study hard in the university, and I found that the pressure in the university is still huge. Although we can control our own time, we will be busy and tired because of lack of self-discipline, which leads to the situation that we have to learn to be independent and adapt to loneliness, which is a bit difficult for us to overcome

Now, I am in college, but there is still a big gap between myths and facts. In my fantasy college, I can study easily and find the job I want as soon as I graduate. However, the reality is that college subjects are more esoteric. At the same time, college study needs a lof of self-control so that I may not pass the final exam. But, there are still many wonderful things in college. For example, I have many opportunities to cultivate interpersonal relationships, I can learn more profound knowledge, I can also improve my sense of social responsibility and so on.
