Sample 2 is better written.

Reasons:

  1. Clear purpose. Sample 2 states exactly what it investigates — the factors influencing enzyme reaction rates, measured through Catecholase activity. Sample 1 only asks what makes enzymes "effective" or "ineffective," and never defines what "effective" means.

  2. Specific, reproducible method. Sample 2 reports the wavelength (540 nm), a constant pH of 7, the enzyme concentration range, and the pH range tested. Sample 1 gives no wavelength, no concentrations, and no experimental conditions.

  3. Quantified results. Sample 2 supports every claim with numbers — 95%, 24%, 70%, 15%. Sample 1 reports only that absorption rates were "high" or "low," so it effectively reports no data at all.

  4. Internal consistency. Sample 2's numbers and variables align logically. Sample 1 is self-contradictory: it says "six samples were placed in the spectrophotometer," yet it describes 2 blanks plus 4 tubes plus another 4 tubes — ten in total. It also tested pH 4 to 8 but draws its conclusion only about pH 6 to 8.

  5. Correct academic language. Sample 2 keeps a consistent past tense and hedges appropriately with "This suggests…". Sample 1 shifts between "will determine" and "We tested," then overclaims with "Therefore it can be said."

  6. Analytical conclusion. Sample 2 contrasts 70% with 15% to reach a specific, bounded conclusion — that Catecholase is most effective between pH 6 and 8. Sample 1's conclusion merely restates its premise.
