    简单句(simple sentence)与并列句(compound sentence)的核心区别

    1. 简单句
    只包含一个独立分句(independent clause),有完整的主语和谓语,能表达完整意思,没有从属分句或其他独立分句。
    例:She reads books.(只有一个主谓结构,表达完整语义)

    2. 并列句
    包含至少两个独立分句,分句之间通常由并列连词(coordinating conjunction,如and/but/or/so等)、分号或冒号连接,每个分句都能单独成句。
例:She reads books, and he writes stories.(两个独立分句由and连接)

    1. Simple Sentence

    · Structure: Contains only one independent clause.

    · Key points:

      · It has a subject and a predicate (verb).

      · It expresses a complete thought.

      · It may have compound subjects or verbs, but still only one clause.

    · Example:

        She reads books.

Tom and Jerry play basketball every Sunday.

    ---

    2. Compound Sentence

    · Structure: Contains two or more independent clauses.

    · Key points:

      · The clauses are joined by:

        1. Coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so), usually with a comma before the conjunction.

        2. Semicolons (;).

        3. Semicolon + conjunctive adverb (e.g., however, therefore) + comma.

      · Each clause could stand alone as a complete sentence.

    · Examples:

She reads books, and he watches movies.

I wanted to go; however, it was too late.
