There are 13 main tributaries merging. It is 766 kilometers long and has a drainage area of 83500 square kilometers. The natural drop is 937 meters, the average annual flow rate is 2130 cubic meters per second, and the theoretical water energy storage capacity is 3.6 million kilowatts. From the source of the river to Ganzhou as the upstream, it is called Gongshui, and it was only called Ganjiang after receiving Zhangshui in the west of Ganzhou City. Gongshui is 255 kilometers long and runs through hills and canyons. Ganzhou to Xingan is the middle reaches, with a length of 303 kilometers, traversing between hills. From Xingan to Wucheng is the downstream, with a length of 208 kilometers and a wide river with many sandbars. There are river embankments built on both sides.
