Introduction should be short, but does not have a word limit; It is to introduce the research by presenting its context or background. Introductions usually go from general to specific, introducing the research problem and how it will be investigated.

An abstract is a sort of summary of the entire paper. It should be specific about the main findings and not vague. It will also specify what was the aims and goals of the study. so, It has a maximum word limit; Its main purpose is to summarize the research--particularly the objective and the main finding/conclusion, Not to introduce the research area.

    1. Different functions
Abstract is a general statement of the main content of a paper, the purpose of research, research means, etc.
Introduction is an introduction, which is generally the first part of an article in English literature. It introduces the research background, significance, development status and current level of the research field, etc.
    2. Different purposes
The important purpose of the abstract is to facilitate the literature retrieval and preliminary classification.
The purpose of the introduction is to give the reader a brief description of the content of the passage or the relevant background, to attract the reader to have an interest in this paper, to the text of the outline and stimulate the role of reading interest.

Firstly, the content results are different

1.Introduction: the result can omit not to write, this is because there is a section in the text to write the result, do not need to repeat in brief.

    2. Abstract: the abstract must list the main findings.

    Then,the content size is different

    1. Introduction: the introduction can be relatively short. In order to shorten the length, you can use one or two sentences to briefly introduce the importance, significance or problems that need to be solved in a certain research field.

    2. Abstract: abstract only has 5 sentences, the first sentence is the hypothesis, the second and third sentences are the research content, the fourth and fifth sentences contain the research methods and results.

     Finally,the purpose is different

    1. Introduction: the purpose of introduction is to let readers know the content of the paper first, so as to decide whether to read the full text.

    2. Abstract: the purpose of abstract is to summarize a scientific research work or ttechnical practice, the purpose, methods and results of the research.

Abstract is the epitome of the paper, highly generalizing the various parts of the paper such as purpose, method, result and conclusion, with the emphasis on the result and conclusion. Readers can get the main information of the paper without reading the full text.

The introduction is the necessary explanation of the research, focusing on the reasons for the topic, the basis for setting up the topic, the problems to be solved, etc.

Structurally, the abstract is independent of the article and is a complete essay.

An abstract will tell the reader of any academic writing what will be argued, investigated or compared in the essay and this is normally placed at the beginning of any writing. An abstract should be a brief exeutive summary of the entire paper, including problem statement, a very brief summary of the methodoloty, and a preview of the findings and conclusions. Often a journal allows only a few hundred words to accomplish this. But the goal of the abstract is to stimulate enough interest to get people to read the entire paper.

As for the conclusion, it will show the results or the answer(s) to the argument, investigation or comparison stated in the abstract. The conclusion to your paper is at the very end, where you restate the value of your research.

Abstract is a short summary that is written at the beginning of a scholarly article or thesis that states the purpose of the paper and its main conclusion.

Introduction  is found at the beginning of any piece of writing that whet the reader’s appetite to read further and give a taste as to what will be in the rest of the pages. In a novel an introduction is naturally more creative than in an academic paper.

Abstract and Introduction are two terms used in research methodology and thesis writing between which certain differences exist. Most students tend to confuse these two as similar in nature. This, however, is a false identification. If you go through research papers, thesis, you will notice that there are two pages for the Introduction and Abstract. When going through the information provided, you will notice that an Abstract and Introduction are not actually the same and that they function for two different purposes. First let u s start off with an understanding of the two terms. Simply an Abstract is a short form of the thesis or research, which allows the reader to comprehend the crux of the research findings. Through this article let us attempt to comprehend the difference, as well as the function of an Abstract and Introduction.

Generally speaking, the abstract is the summary of the whole text, a summary of a scientific research work or technical practice, which can be summarized from the purpose, method and research results. Generally speaking, before the main part, it is mainly for the readers to understand the content of the paper first. This kind of summary is written after the completion of the full text and is comprehensive. Generally, the number of words is between 100 and 150. It covers the research purpose, research methods, research results and main conclusions. In other words, the abstract must fully explain the problems of "what to study", "how to study", "what results to get", "what results to explain" and so on.

As for the introduction, the main task is to plan the basic content and outline of the whole paper. Generally, it includes all or several of the five items listed below: introduction of the background, significance, development status, current level, etc. of a research field。

Abstract and introduction are two sections that can be found at the beginning of a document. Although abstract and introduction share some similar features, there are some fundamental differences between the two. Abstracts are generally found in academic work such as research papers, thesis and introduction can be found in many texts. The main difference between abstract and introduction is that an abstract summarizes the whole text whereas an introduction merely introduces the text.

An Abstract is a short form of the final thesis. It contains the crux of the research findings.
An introduction, on the other hand, is the first chapter of a thesis or a dissertation or a book for that matter.
An Introduction provides information about the contents of the book or the content of the other chapters of the thesis. It also gives the significance and the scope of the subject of the thesis.
An Abstract, however, presents the reader with the research findings in a summary, unlike in the case of an introduction which lays the foundation.
