I'm a huge fan of movies, and I've watched around 20 movies during summer vacation. What I really want to recommend is Amelie, whose French name is Lw fabulous Destin d'Amélie Poulain. I find myself similar to the protagonist Amelie in some aspect, which is part of the reason why I adore this movie.

Amelie is a quirky and imaginative young woman living in Paris. She has a rather introverted nature and possesses a vivid imagination, often finding solace in her own world of daydreams and fantasies. She finds joy in simple pleasures like cracking the top of a crème brûlée or skipping stones on the water. Amelie is observant and perceptive too, noticing the little things that others may overlook. Amelie also has a strong sense of empathy and compassion. She often goes out of her way to help those around her, anonymously performing acts of kindness to brighten their lives. Whether it's reuniting lost treasures with their owners or orchestrating romantic encounters, Amelie finds fulfillment in making a positive impact on the lives of others.

It is also worth noting that the shooting technique and film-making in Amelie are masterfully executed, contributing to the film's unique and captivating visual style. The combination of vibrant colors, imaginative set designs, and creative camera work all come together to create a visually stunning and enchanting cinematic experience.

I hadn’t watched many movies during my summer vocation. I only watched two films but both I think are worth being recommended. They are “No More Bets(孤注一掷)” and “Lost in the Stars(消失的她)”. The actors in both movies delivered captivating performances. Additionally, the themes that both movies aimed to convey are worthy of our attention. In this seemingly peaceful era, there are actually many dangers lurking. These dangers may appear distant from us, but they could come from the people closest to us. Learning to love ourselves and protect ourselves is the best insurance in this era.

During my last summer vacation, I watched many decent movies such as Good Will Hunting, The Notebook, Die Hard, but the one that captivated me most was a newly released Chinese movie named Journey to the West(宇宙探索编辑部). Just like the English title of the movie, it tells the story of a group of amateur scientists making a journey of discovering extraterrestrial civilizations, which also pays tribute to the household book Journey to the West(西游记).

As the protagnist of the movie, Tang Zhijun is extremely obsessed with extraterrestrial civilizations, convinced that aliens have been sending signals to him. Holding this seemingly stupid and paranoid belief, he embarks on a jouney of finding aliens with his fellow companions.  Despite all the troubles and obstacles that come their way, Tang is never deterred, and eventually he does meet the alien that he has been hoping to meet. What I really like about the movie is that it is shot in "mockumentary" style, in other words, it's a fake documentary, which conveys black humor and absurdism. Throughout their journey, Tang Zhijun and his companions encounter a series of hilarious and unexpected situations. The mockumentary format adds a layer of authenticity to the film, making it feel as if we are watching real scientists documenting their pursuit of extraterrestrial life. The film cleverly balances comedy and introspection, highlighting the absurdity of Tang's beliefs while also exploring the power of determination and human connection.

I have watched Lost in the Stars, No More Bets, Barbie, and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas during my summer vacation. Apart from some hot movies in this summer, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas impressed me most.

This movie simply told an innocent friendship from a child's point of view. Even the title of the movie used such a harmless word, "striped pajamas". However, the reality was as cruel as the concentration camp. There was no prison uniform in Bruno's eyes, anyone can wear the striped pajamas; there was no concentration camp in Bruno's eyes, only a farm to explore; there was never death in Bruno's eyes, but he finally went to death. The director's use of such a child's perspective to deal with the anti-war theme made the final tragic ending all the more heavy and thought-provoking.

From Chinese films like “No More Bets” and “Creation of the Gods Ⅰ: Kingdom of Storms” to the two American blockbusters which were jokingly called “Barbenheimer”, I’ve watched more than 10 films of all genres during summer vacation. Among all these films, the one inspired by the Ming Dynasty novel “Investiture of the Gods”, “Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms” holds a unique place in my heart for its well-crafted visuals and profound Chinese values rooted in this ancient epic.

For starters, the well-crafted visuals convey both the magnificence of ancient epic and the surreal beauty of fantasy. It is a mega scale blending of history, folklore and mythology from more than 3000 years ago. For the ancient part, from the costumes and make-up to the props, the visual presentation was inspired by bronze relics from the Shang Dynasty Yin Ruins. The golden, dark green and bloody red colors set the tone for the whole film. The delicate carving of the armors and the exquisite patterns of the clothing captivated me to appreciate the Chinese ancient beauty, For the fantasy part, the movie created the image of gods and demons like ShenGongbao, Ne Zha and Jiang Ziya. The scene in heaven was filled with clouds and mist, showing a sense of sacredness. When the mundane world and heaven were intertwined with each other at the climax, the visual effect was really wonderful.

In addition, the messages that this movie tries to convey are also profound. First, the value of 天下. King Zhou failed to conquer the world because he didn’t conquer for the whole welfare of people, but because his greed and cruelty. This echoes with the Chinese traditional value: “If you benefit the people of the world, you will attain their support. If you harm the people of the world, you will face their opposition.” All the conflicts, no matter it is related to central and regional government, emperor and people and even the inner conflict of Ji Fa will all find its way to this subject. Second, this movie is also the journey of Ji Fa’s self-exploration. Torn between King Zhou and Ji Chang, Ji Fa had an identity crisis, not knowing whether he should stay loyal to the former or the latter. Ji Fa told him: “What is important is not whose son you are, but who you are.” This pointed out the core of this story, how a young boy, immature like a blank canvas, finds himself, defines himself and paints his own color in his destiny. I really resonate with this message.

All in all, I really recommend the film“Creation of the Gods Ⅰ: Kingdom of Storms”!!

In this summer vacation, I've watched some new movies like No More Bets, Barbie, One and Only and some classic ones like The Princess Diary, Flipped twice. The classic ones are not needed to talk about, this time, I want to say something about One and only, a blood-boiling movie about youth.

This movie follows the journey of Chen Shuo, a young street performer who has a deep passion for hip-hop dancing. Chen is invited by Ding Lei, an experienced hip-hop dancer, to join his dance troupe. Chen forms valuable friendship with his peers, works hard to overcome the challenges and finally gets the gold medal with his friends.

This movie is a typical Chinese movie, which has funny process and happy ending with a successful protagonist. I can almost guess the ending of it in the beginning of the movie. But, it really impresses me with its thrilling development. By focusing the growth of common people, the movie invites me to feel the charm of "one and only" youth. We youth have so many possibilities, and we can explore the world in the way we like and enjoy.

In this summer vacation, I watched No More Bets, Lost in the Stars, Barbie, Indiana Janes and the Dial of Destiny, Jagten and Red White & Royal Blue. Most of us maybe familiar with the first three movies, and my favorite one among these three is Barbie, meaningful and ironic. I watched Indiana Janes and the Dial of Destiny and Jagten initially for Mads Mikklesen, but surprised by the plots and thought-provoking themes. The last one is a love story of the son of American president and the British prince. I haven't seen such a pure love story a long time!

I have watched Barbie this summer vocation. At first, I finished the film with some disappointment and even wrote some critical reviews that its brainwashing was quite pale (not persuasive) and that a large amount  of lines lacked padding. But after I read some of the reviews I had second thoughts. Some thought the film was too commercial, some who had known about feminism thought it was shallow in content and had no new ideas, and radical feminists were even more critical of it because of the character's advocacy of external beauty and love of men.

On reflection, I think I should be content with the film. I decided to abandon the sensible perspective for a while and focus on the fact that I was sitting in the theatre with my friends with so much laughter. The critical supremacy of my point of view took me away from the pleasurable experience of watching the film, which is something I need to think about more. Maybe sometimes we should let go of our criticisms and defences of films and experience them with our hearts first.

In the summer holiday, I watched No More Bets and an old film, Flipped. I seldom went out to see films. However, on the Initernet, I watched many wonderful films. Fipped is a heartwarming coming-of-age film that tells the story of Bryce and Juli, two neighbors who have known each other since childhood. The film unfolds over the course of several years, capturing the ups and downs of their relationship and personal growth. The personality of Juli attracted me, about a normal girl with her strong heart. She could stay at the tree for a whole day to prevent it from cutting. I believed she had a colorful spiritual world, so she could attract others with the special characters.

This summer, I watched a thrilling movie called Atonement. The early scenes of this movie are very beautiful. In midsummer, the flowing sweat and the hidden emotions between boys and girls together create a stunning scene. However, this movie is still a tragedy after all. This movie can be listed as one of my favorite movies. Not only its exquisite visuals, but also its strong tragic significance, making it unforgettable for anyone who has seen it.

I have read many films during this summer holiday, such as The Shawshank Redemption,Forrest Gump,Green Book ,No More Bets and so on. One of my favorite movies that I highly recommend is "The Shawshank Redemption."Directed by Frank Darabont, this film tells a captivating story of hope, , friendship, and the indomitable human spirit. Set within the confines of Shawshank State Penitentiary, it explores themes of redemption and the resilience of the human soul. The brilliant performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, coupled with the masterful storytelling, make it a must-watch."The Shawshank Redemption" reminds us of the power of hope, even in the darkest of circumstances. It teaches us that no matter how bleak life may seem, we have the ability to overcome adversity and find solace in unexpected places. The movie's timeless message resonates with audiences across generations, making it a cinematic masterpiece that continues to touch hearts. So if you have free time to watch it,I promise you will never regret it.

I have watched several films but few of them really attracted me. Among theses films, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" drew my attention. It is a cinematic masterpiece that continues to captivate audiences with its powerful narrative, outstanding performances, and thought-provoking themes. Directed by Forman and based on Ken Kesey's novel, the film takes viewers on an unforgettable journey into the world of mental health institutions, challenging societal norms and questioning the concept of sanity.
At the heart of the film is Jack Nicholson's iconic performance as Randle P. McMurphy, a rebellious and charismatic character who feigns insanity to escape a prison sentence and ends up in a mental hospital. Nicholson's portrayal is nothing short of brilliant, showcasing his ability to convey a wide range of emotions, from defiance to vulnerability, with unparalleled authenticity.
The supporting cast is equally stellar, with Louise Fletcher delivering an Oscar-winning performance as Nurse Ratched, the cold and authoritarian head nurse. The interactions between McMurphy and Nurse Ratched create a tense and gripping dynamic that serves as a metaphor for the struggle between individual freedom and institutional control.
Beyond its outstanding performances, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" stands out for its exploration of profound themes such as the dehumanizing effects of institutionalization, the consequences of blind obedience, and the importance of personal autonomy. The film prompts viewers to reflect on societal norms and the thin line between sanity and madness.
Forman's direction is masterful, seamlessly blending moments of humor, drama, and tragedy. The cinematography captures the claustrophobic atmosphere of the mental institution, enhancing the overall impact of the narrative. The use of a diverse ensemble cast, including actual patients from the Oregon State Hospital, adds a layer of authenticity to the film's portrayal of mental health issues.

I have watched quite a few movies during this summer vacation, some are really familiar to me for example the Titanic which I watch every summer with my friends, and others are totally new to me though I had heard their names , for example The Fault in our stars and Big Fish. All of them are compelling and great movies. And among them,my mother and I both love Little Women,  the 2019 vision.

The movie focuses on the Marchi family of four sisters Jo, Meg, Amy, Beth how to fight for independence and purse their ideal life . The story is famous because the original novel is a classic and the 1990s vision also contributes to it reputations. To be honest,I hadn't expected that this movie can be so adorable before I watched it. The general visual style is bright and colorful with beautiful natural scenes , making the emotion between characters more exquisite. They also use sunlight so beautifully like Pride and Prejudice. What surprised me most is the ending of Joe which is different from the novel. In the novel, Joe married with the professor but in the movie, Joe writes the biography as an independent writer and it is unknown whether she is married or not. "Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they've got ambition, and they've got talent, as well as just beauty. I'm so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I'm so sick of it." It is said by Joe and I believe it is inspiring. So from my perspective,I don't think that Joe will surrender to loneliness and prejudice.

This summer, I watched the American movie Legally Blonde, and I was greatly inspired by it. As a feminist movie, its inspiration for women is generally recognized to lie in the growth of the heroine Elle, but in my opinion, the movie is far more inspiring to women than that.
First of all, in terms of characterization, the early heroine, Elle, is a blend of typical female traits in the traditional Western perspective--blonde, fashion-conscious, and lacking in initiative. At the same time, many details in the movie imply the cause of the early image of Elle - the invisible discipline and molding of her upbringing. For example, Elle's parents are strongly opposed to her admission to Harvard Law School, which reflects the lack of intrinsic qualities in their education of Elle. The film's presentation of Elle's early stereotypical image and the social environment is conducive to enlightening female viewers to reflect on themselves, and to deeply understand their own existential status quo.
In addition, the film’s plotting focuses more on the portrayal of women themselves, while marginalizing the male characters. For example, At the end of the movie, it is mentioned that Elle falls in love with the hero, Emmett, but it does not explain how they have developed into a romantic relationship; although Elle has received Emmett's help on her way to success, the movie focuses more on depicting Elle's own determination and diligence, as well as her knowledge and insight in fashion. This focus on plotting highlights the woman's own abilities and achievements, rather than the need for male support and help as in traditional gender relations. Through this special plot arrangement, the film can subconsciously guide female viewers to focus on themselves, helping them to get rid of their attachment to men and fully realize their own value and power.
Most importantly, compared with traditional feminist films, the film is progressive in that while reflecting the growth and transformation of Elle, it does not intentionally erase the original feminine qualities, but still holds a positive attitude on the whole. For example, Elle relies on her knowledge of homosexuality and hairdressing to break down the lies of witnesses during the trial, and finally appears in court dressed in pink. These details in the film emphasize the pride of femininity and reflect the neo-feminist viewpoint that "female’s differences from male is not seen as a basis for female weakness, but as a source of female strength and identity". The image of female is not a second nature to male, but exists as a female herself; the enhancement of female's power is not to destroy male, but to show the unique style of female. The new feminist ideas conveyed by the movie can better resonate with the female audience, enhance their self-identification of female identity, and make them more relaxed and self-compatible in the process of realizing their self-worth.
In conclusion, the movie Legally Blonde is not only an inspirational story about the heroine's comeback. The movie has a profound inspirational effect on the awakening and practice of feminist thinking in terms of image building, background explanation, plot setting and ideological core, so it’s worth watching.

Well, actually I watched a film that I have heard of from many lists and ranks of recommended films, which is "

    Scent of a Woman".

Though the film is named with "woman", it is far from a romantic film. Frank.Slade was a soldior who lost his sight in the World War, remaining his military style, together with the injuries and guilt in his heart. He met Charlie SImms, the school boy taking care of him, who studied in the famous Burd School. Charlie saw his friends making fool of the headmaster and was forced to sell them with the price of being expelled from the school or getting access to Harvard. The disillusioned Frank found new hope when he was impressed by Charlie, who had a pure soul, during his journey of attempted suicide. Understanding Charlie's refusal to sell out his friends, Frank decided to help Charlie by helping him win the judgement at the hearing. And they won.(By the way, the debate on the hearing was just too amazing, I really loved the performance by Al Pacino)

So here comes the quesition, where is the "scent of the woman" in the title?

Slade was a blind man, but he could smell the scent of the perfume of those women he had relations with. He could not only smell the scent, but also smelled the purity and all those beautiful qualities of people, like Charlie and his loyalty. The soldier had seen too much, felt too much sin before he fell into the dark, but he still insisted on his values. To give up hope, even to give up life, is a compromise and a cowardice to the framework, and the multitude will praise you at tea time and then forget about you along with leaving the table. To be untainted in the muck is the home of idealism in the true sense of the word.
For us in the reality, do not live up to their original intention, always maintain the purity of the heart, in the heart of the hedge planting chrysanthemums is the best confrontation of the framework, but also the ideal of the best to achieve.

In addition, the visual effects of rhe film are also excellent. Many scene settings and costumes and props are very elegant, giving people a sense of    immersive feelng,so that the audience can better integrate into the history of the dynasty. And the music in the film is also very beautiful, with the scene atmosphere, let people feel shocked.

During the summer vacation, I watched several movies, such as the Princess Diaries , The boy in the striped pyjamas, the King's speech and the Green Book. Among these, I am most impressed by the Green Book. Although I know something about racial discrimination in the US, I never thought it would be so cruel. As an excellent pianist, Shelly is still refused to use the toilet and still needs to strictly follow the regulations at  to stay in a specific hotel for blacks.

Nevertheless, Shelly has always been gentle but powerful. He  insists on going back to the hotel to the toilet to maintain his dignity. He  stops Tony from steeling. When he taught Tony to write letters, those beautiful sentences almost immediately created pictures in my mind.

To be honest, I have never seen a black man appears in the movie with such a delicate image. As far as anti-black discrimination is concerned, it is one way to show the suffering of black people, and it is equally important to show their delicacy. So I recommend this movie the most.

Yes, I have warched several movies during this summer vacation, such as No More Bets, Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, The Invisible Guest and so on.

Among them, Alice's Adventure in Wonderland impressed me most. It tells a story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy full of grotesque figures like talking playing cards and anthropomorphic creatures. In this world, she sometimes became larger and sometimes smaller, so that one time she even fell into a pond filled with her own tears. She also met the Duchess of preaching love, the mysterious Cheshire Cat, mythology Griffin and turtles leaving seas, the Queen always shouting that she would cut someone’s head and a group of poker card soldiers. She took part in a mad tea party, a weird croquet tournament and a trial. She didn’t wake up until the final conflict with the Queen, finding herself still lying alongside the river, gently touched by her elder sister.

Every girl likes daydreaming, including me. This story is an adventure in a girl’s dream. In Wonderland, impossibility is nothing. In another word, everything is possible. Maybe the wonderland seems to be strange and stupid to us because the things we do or we think are always practical and sensible. However, it is the wonderland that inspires me of many different ideas as if I were in my childhood. In realistic life, disrupted by noise and boredom, Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland is just like pure springs relieving my anxiety. This is why I love this movie. For me, it is the medicine curing my soul pain. After finishing it, I hold the firm belief that the world is peaceful and wonderful, and the cherry will always be in full bloom. Just like what Dickens said, “ The purity, the brightness, and the beauty. These things shall never die.”

What impressed me most was THELMA &LOUISE, which was a masterpiece regarding two women set out for a trip while it resulted in a path to freedom without retreat. They were the victims of the violence from men, both physically and mentally. One was raped, the other was treated by her husband with abuse and ignorance. Their journey to escape began with a bullshit shot from the pistol held in the hand of Louise. Saved by Louise from being raped, Thelma joined in the escaping, her personality changed significantly, she discarded her timidity and weakness and gained the courage to chase freedom and the brand-new life without oppression. They paved their road and cured, protected and supported each other on the way, which reflected their profound friendship incisively. Unfortunately, the police caught them and managed to intercept them with a cliff in front. Finally, Thelma and Louise didn’t submit to the world they had been in for their first half of life, they chose firmly the way in front of them. They clasped each other’s hand, dashed to the edge of the cliff, flying into the air. Exactly in that moment, they were twice-born.

This movie talks about a story that one man takes in a group of children and teach them to practice boxing. The poor infrastructure, the desolate land and a lot of rough conditions reveal the plight of the lower classes. They don’t have job, don’t have money, even don’t have families. The children here are forced to steal things to survive. Luckily they meet one person Xiang tenghui who is kind even he was imprisoned once. He teaches them to practice,to earn money by this ability, and finally created one club which includes a lot of children who can’t go to school. Even he meets problems or is questioned, he always stand all the thing himself .He is a lot of children’s father . This touches me a lot.

During summer holiday I watched many movies, but two of them impressed me most: The Sixth Sense and Fight Club. Both movies are psychological thrillers that explore the themes of identity, reality, and morality, and both have shocking twist endings that will make you question everything you saw.

The Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, stars Bruce Willis as a child psychologist who tries to help a young boy (Haley Joel Osment) who claims he can see and talk to the dead. The film is a masterful blend of horror and drama, as it creates a suspenseful atmosphere and an emotional connection between the characters. The film also features a stunning performance by Toni Collette as the boy’s mother, who struggles to cope with her son’s illness.

Fight Club, directed by David Fincher, stars Edward Norton as an unnamed narrator, who is discontented with his white-collar job and lifestyle. He forms a “fight club” with a charismatic soap salesman, and becomes involved in a radical anti-consumerist movement. The film is a dark satire of the modern society and its effects on masculinity, as it exposes the emptiness and violence of the characters’ lives.
